I'll start out by saying that the photographs are amazing and the printing is excellent.Two things mar what should have been a perfect book. First is the decision to run many of the landscape-orientation (horizontal) photos across two pages, placing the middle of the photo across the fold. As a photographer, I wouldn't want my photos presented this way.The second is the decision to put attribution for the photos with thumbnails at the end of the book, instead of on the same page as the photo. If you want to see the location and the year of the photo, you have to flip back and forth to the back of the book.This doesn't affect my rating, but I have to mention that this somewhat expensive book was packaged improperly by Amazon with minimal interior padding, and I received it damaged, with a corner ding. I am an Amazon seller and there is no way I personally would have shipped this book out the way Amazon did. I am exchanging it for a new one. It remains to be seen whether Amazon is capable of shipping the item to me without damaging it a second time. That's ok. I'm going to keep sending them back until they get it right.
It is a real challenge to be questioned over the work of a photographer like Erwitt. I will not place any criticism. After all his name made after his work make me to buy his album so to be happy to go over and over again even to smallest detail. As a book is a very good work. Worth to have
Some of the printing appeared grainy and not in focus! Lots of great photos as well! I like it when photos do not take up two pages which detracts from them!
